This week we are honored to be joined by Kayla Bradham, VP at Sports Philanthropy Network. Kayla and Dave talk about bringing hope and new possibilities to communities through the connection of sports. They talk about players like Reggie White, Santana Dotson, LeRoy Butler and Warrick Dunn and the impact those players have had on the world around them. Kayla talks about making a living out of your passion and ways to build your network to reach more people. Definitely an uplifting episode – tune in as they talk about your time, talent and treasure and how to use those to help others.

This is vulnerable, but did you know that I grew up abused and in poverty? We were so poor that my mom and I did not have a car and sometimes not even a phone or a TV…in fact my mom didn’t even have her Driver’s License. When I received my permission slip for Band and Softball my mom told me that “money didn’t grow on trees” and that was the end of it. I turned in an unsigned permission slip to my teacher with tears in my eyes. I don’t know who, but SOMEONE paid my softball registration fee that summer. I wasn’t very good at third base or left field, but I loved being part of a team and I loved that old Rawlings glove that I found at a garage sale for a quarter. I learned how to be coachable, and had a ton of fun! ⚾ …and they had snacks!!
Even as a child, I knew that I wanted to give back and say thank you to that anonymous person who paid my fees that summer. I wanted to create hope and possibility for others. I would find a way to make a way!
That opportunity unfolded in July of 2018 when I met my partner Roy Kessel at a Tony Robbins event at the United Center in Chicago. We’re committed to building stronger, healthier, and more inclusive communities through sport with our nonprofit Sports Philanthropy Network.
** At Sports Philanthropy Network, we partner with athletes, leagues, teams and governing bodies to support sports nonprofits and create social impact in communities across the world. **
