This week on the podcast, serial entrepreneur Ben Albert joins Dave for a compelling conversation about building success during a global pandemic. Together, they explore the challenges and rewards of growing a business, forging meaningful connections, and establishing thought leadership in your industry. Ben also shares his insights on the role of core values and how they shape your personal and professional story.

Bio:

March 2020; Covid hit, I was furloughed from my job as a marketing executive for a large firm. I shortly after found myself down and out, staring at an empty handle of Jim Beam Whiskey. As many of us, I got pretty good at staring at the wall, then worrying, then trying to solve the world’s problems… I failed. This provided me some time to think through my past, from hardly speaking the first 13 years of my life, to abuse, to feeling disconnected, unworthy, and small.

I recalled my teenage years, high school, where I found a community in the music industry. I found a “tribe” of people that I could connect to at a deep level, share interests with, and quite literally amplify one another’s voices. This changed my life. At this time, I discovered that I truly loved my role as a promoter, advocate, and marketer. I found a passion for connecting creatives, hosting events, promoting events, and more. No longer did I have to feel “small.”

This is why I chose a career in marketing. I found in marketing, I have a unique opportunity to empower businesspeople to reach the RIGHT community, the RIGHT clients, and the RIGHT partners, who share the same beliefs and values as YOU. So you can scale above your highest potential, in turn, filling up your pockets AND your soul. Finally, while staring at that empty handle of Jim Beam, I asked myself a straightforward question: How can I help be part of the silver lining? Or how can I get out of this pandemic better than I entered it? Hesitantly, I opened this very laptop I am typing this bio on right now and started reaching out to strangers on Linkedin. This spearheaded my entrepreneurial journey.

I wanted to start a business podcast, but I didn’t know any businesspeople! Selflessly, I wanted to help…Selfishly, I want to be helped. We all need to elevate one another with knowledge and support.

I finally found my purpose when I officially launched Rochester Business Connections in November of 2020. I did a 22 episode launch (one episode each weekday), slowly gained momentum, and began to take off!

Once a pipe dream and a local show, Rochester Business Connections grew rapidly in popularity. I launched 4 other segments, and now we have an entire network, The Real Business Connections Network. With Real Business Connections, I have had the humbling opportunity to amplify some of the most outstanding businesspeople in the world, big and small. Real Business Connections is here for all of us to learn. We are going to have lively discussions with world-renowned business leaders. We will elevate these businesspeople and highlight their role in their communities.

This is an opportunity for all of us to connect with one another. And all grow and get better together, as a team. I couldn’t be happier to be on this mission! I have found my way.
